Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from her family, she was raised up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. While a small girl, Ford was battling obsessive/compulsive disorders and anxiety caused by word associations. Ford began acting during her teen years and joined part of the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she was a poor for the school. Ford applied again to Central School of Speech and Drama and, on the fourth time she applied, she was finally admitted. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford was able to graduate in 1993. However, she already had her TV debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning during the Nineties. Also, she was a regular performer in the theatre, eventually joining in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. However, Tate quickly began gaining notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her repertoire in 1996.
