She was in 2007 the lead role in the Romanian movie 4 luni 3 semaines si2 zile (4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days) 4 months 3 weeks 2 days, directed produced by Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). The film was awarded two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize from the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Youth Without Youth, a Francis Ford Coppola movie, was also part of her work. In 2008 she played Yasim Anwar in BBC Mini-Series The Last Enemy. Marinca played the role of Yasim Anwar on Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, and also in the Romanian drama Boogie. She appeared as Irma on Fury 2014, in which she portrayed a German known aunt for Emma.
